[Vanity] Son headed to OCS/Quantico (USMC) - Quigley question

Monday 21st of May 2012 02:22:48 AM
Posted by admin / Under Image Sensor

My son heads to Quantico on 27 May for USMC OCS as a senior candidate. I was using google maps and google earth as aerial recon, and for the life of me I cannot definitively locate the Quigley course. I am failing my photo interpretation class ;-). Can you vets who have been there/ done that tell me WHERE the Quigley course is? I believe it may be south of the bridge, in the woods/water west of Timmerman, north of Flemming.

Bachmann Supporters Praise Image, Backbone, Purity

Gail Harville supports GOP presidential hopeful Michele Bachmann because she wants a candidate who can debate President Obama “and beat him.” Republican presidential candidate Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., talks during the book-signing event for her book "Core of Conviction" Saturday in Aiken, S.C. Advertisement No, that’s not enough, said her husband, Bill, adding, “someone who will shred him!” The North Augusta couple were among about four dozen fans, activists and skeptics who turned out for the Minnesota congresswoman’s book signing at Books-A-Million in Aiken on Saturday morning. A handful hoped to see a ticket that combines Bachmann and former House...

Face Found On Testicular Tumor Ultrasound (pic on linky)

Posted by admin / Under Image Sensor

People see the strangest things in clouds and burnt toast, but this latest sighting can't be topped -- a face on a testicular tumor. Canadian doctors at Queen's University were shocked when they found the image in an ultrasound from December 2009, the Toronto Star reported. “It was very ghoulish, like a man screaming in pain. His mouth was open and it looked like one eye was gouged out,” said Dr. Naji Touma, a professor at Queen’s University Medical School and urologist at Kingston General Hospital. The image was sent to the journal Urology and recently published under the tongue-in-cheek...

Mitt Looks the Part (Barfage? yes, but interesting points)

Why Mitt Romney still poses the greatest challenge to Obama in 2012 One of my regrets in life is losing the chance to debate Mitt Romney and whip his ass. It was the fall of 2002. Mitt Romney had thundered into Massachusetts with enough money to grab the Republican nomination for governor. Meanwhile, I was doing my best to secure the Democratic nomination. One week before the Democratic primary, I was tied in the polls with the state treasurer, well ahead of four other candidates. But my campaign ran out of cash. Despite pleas from my campaign manager, I didn't...

An evaluation of airport x-ray backscatter units based on image characteristics

Monday 21st of May 2012 02:22:48 AM
Posted by admin / Under Image Sensor

Abstract Little information exists on the performance of x-ray backscatter machines now being deployed through UK, US and other airports. We implement a Monte Carlo simulation using as input what is known about the x-ray spectra used for imaging, device specifications and available images to estimate penetration and exposure to the body from the x-ray beam, and sensitivity to dangerous contraband materials. We show that the body is exposed throughout to the incident x-rays, and that although images can be made at the exposure levels claimed (under 100 nanoGrey per view), detection of contraband can be foiled in these systems....

Eerie Image Captured in Woods - Deer Stand Camera Snaps Bizarre Animal

BERWICK, Louisiana (WVLA) - A deer hunter captures a spooky image wandering through the Louisiana woods at night. A hunter near Baton Rouge says he found this freaky photo on his deer stand camera. The hunting camera was broken but the memory card was still there and so was this bizarre image. It looks like a cross between a human and an animal, with long slender appendages and glowing eyes. The hunter says he just hopes it's a vegetarian, if he runs into it in the woods again.

Mom upset about 12-yr old daughter's full body security scan experience

The TSA calls them another weapon in the fight against terrorism. The machines are meant to detect a wide range of threats. But even children could be picked by an agent to move through one, which doesn't sit well with Michelle Nemphos of Cockeysville. Her 12-year-old daughter, whom she did not want to appear on camera, was at Tampa International Airport on vacation with a family friend when a TSA officer chose her. "It's an image of a nude child that they're seeing. This is child pornography whether people want to believe this or not. How is this any different,"...

Ad Campaign Aims to Change Americans' Image of Mormons (Mitt Romeny 2010 run)

Monday 21st of May 2012 02:22:48 AM
Posted by admin / Under Image Sensor

The Mormon Church has launched a television ad campaign in nine test markets. The ads contain no Bible verses or doctrinal discussions ... just everyday folks talking about their everyday lives. And, oh, by the way ... they practice a faith that nearly half of Americans know little to nothing about. ... The campaign also features an interactive website with a chat room where people can talk with Mormons and watch longer versions of the featured ads. Swofford hopes that they'll be able to present 90 different ads, so viewers will see a different person each time they air. My...

Just Holding a Drink Makes You Seem Dumb, Study Says

Monday 21st of May 2012 02:22:48 AM
Posted by admin / Under Image Sensor

[N]ew evidence shows that drinking is bad for your image even if you don't open your mouth. In fact, according to a working paper from the University of Michigan's Scott Rick and the University of Pennsylvania's Maurice Schweitzer, just holding a glass of alcohol makes you look stupid. It does not matter if you're male or female, or whether you drink beer or wine -- if people see you drinking, they think you're dumber than you'd otherwise appear. "It hurts you," Rick tells AOL News. The most damning and universally applicable finding, however, came from the experiment that melded alcohol...
